Cease and Desist—The End of Crackin’ Wax

Posted: April 1, 2015 by Crackin' Wax in General

Some of you may have noticed that I have been fairly silent across the board as of late. That’s because last week I received, via certified mail, a cease and desist order from the State of Minnesota Department of Attorney General. I have been in touch with a lawyer who has read this order, has contacted the Department of Attorney General, and has informed me that an anonymous group has begun a case against those who describe themselves as a Group Breaking business. Given the nature of the case, each group breaking business will be dealt with state-by-state. So, unless someone else has recently received a similar letter, it seems I am the first target.

I am not allowed to go into specific details regarding this case, however my lawyer has instructed me to publicly post the cease and desist order, sans sensitive information pertinent to the case. In reading the order, I believe that the accusations made against me are ridiculous. I do not have the financial capacity to fight this order, therefor I must shut down Crackin’ Wax.

Group breaking does not pay my bills. It is not my job. I have only ever done it for fun and to help raise funds for worthy charities. Someone has seen to it that I can no longer do just that, and they may very well be after all group breakers.

I have truly enjoyed my time with you amazing, generous collectors. I have met some incredible people here and I will miss interacting with each and every one of you. Let’s hope this isn’t the beginning of the end of a very unique aspect of this incredible hobby.

What a joke…I am so sorry. Never participated but I’ve been an avid watcher and lurker for a couple years now. I hope some type of resolution can be found.
