Here’s something else to chew on. All of the above players are currently making a combined $84M+. The Twins current payroll is $82M. When the Twins made it to the American League Championship Series in 2002, their payroll was less than half their current budget ($40M). The Twins’ highest payroll was just over $113M in 2011, a year after they won their sixth AL Central title in 8 years. That same year, they finished last in the Division with a W/L record of 63-99–their worst record since 1995 when they went 56-88.
